A study guide which provides some general coverage of ideas – some worthy of inclusion for you

This is the main assessment for this term. There will be 3 pieces submitted.
1) a film review (Pirates of the Caribbean)
2) a research report (about your chosen NZ hero)
3) an article about Peter Blake
The article will be written in news reporting style with an introduction, 3 key points of one full paragraph each, and a conclusion.
Peter Blake Article/Draft 1
Introduction: Write 5 sentences that give an overview of how you see Peter Blake
Key points: choose 3 main areas/aspects of his life/death
For each of these you need to be able to write 5 sentences which expand the idea of the key point
Conclusion: summarise what you have written andfinish with a concluding statement
While you are viewing today be aware of Motifs (these are usually repeated symbols and in Hitchcock’s films may occur across a range of his work as well as throughout one film).
Foreshadowing – there are many examples of this throughout the film, be aware of picking up on these as you view.
Lighting – Because this film is in black and white, lighting is used very effectively to portray such aspects as good and evil.
Use your notes on the conventions of horror to identify other conventions that Hitchcock uses throughout the film Psycho.
