Dolly (Dorothy Evelyn Cole) Murphy

Today my parents and I attended the funeral in Hamilton of our lovely Aunty Dolly, along with many other friends and rellies from both sides of my family. Dolly was married to my father (Mal Murphy’s) brother Neville who passed away a long time ago. Dolly will be sadly missed by many friends and whanau. Because many of my cousins expressed an interest in the family history I have decided this blog is worth maintaining so I will endeavour to do so. I hope too that you will feel free to contribute either via comments, and/or emailing me anything you would like to have included. I’m posting another pic here as I think they bring things ‘to life’ more. The pic is of my mum and her little brother Maurice Keith Richards, with their grandfather Frank Long. He was married to Edith (nee Redward).
Their parents were Maurice Augustine and Winifred Marjorie LONG. Moss’s parents were Richard Richards (I know, it’s highly original!) and Mary Ann Cusack. They had a hotel in the early days of Thames called The George and there are records of a devastating fire when Richard and Mary Ann lived in Karangahake in which they lost two very young sons.

Today

BE CREATIVE AND MAKE IT MEMORABLE

You may work in pairs to create a revision presentation about the film Shakespeare in Love.
(Directed by????) Slide 1 will be the title, and each following slide will make 5 key points about the film’s production elements.
Use this website to download information into a word document that you can then insert information and pictures from there onto your powerpoihnt presentation.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138097/ Use the goofs and quotes section at the bottom as well.
You may also get illustrations and info from other sites.

Your last slide should be a conclusion in bullet points of the key points you are making.

Wednesday’s work

This is the work you will be doing today in the computer room.

Task 1 – http://web2.uvcs.uvic.ca/elc/studyzone
Start at Level 200 and complete ALL the reading comprehension exercises, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the stories.
This is revision for 1.6 exam questions.

Task 2 – Create a Power point ‘Revision’ presentation.
Pages 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are to have a question about the text (either film or novel studied) with 3 possible answers (in boxes)
One of these will be the correct answer. Hyperlink the correct answer to page 6 of your presentation which will have a Congratulations, you are right picture – with clapping sounds.
The other ones will lead to wrong answer pages – think about designs for those. Try to include pictures from the net about the text you are referring to, to make your pages more interesting.

Pic of my Dad and 2 of his brothers

These are the Murphy family – my Dad Malcolm Darcy is the one at the end with the light coloured pants. In the middle is one of his older brothers Ron (Pat) and at the other end one of his younger brothers Cyril. Their father was Adelbert Murphy, and their mother was Irene Alice PENWARDEN, she later married William LAWRENCE.
Cyril and his daughters Linda, Karen and Ellen used to come and stay with our family in Thames. I have not seen or heard from them for many years now and would love it if someone who reads this and knows them could put them in touch.
